I saw many posts regarding the Elan touchpad not working well in Windows 10, so I assume that was the impetus for the update on October 15, 2015 through Windows Update on Windows 7. However, after it installed I saw odd error messages that ETDCtrl crashed on reboot and there were two tabs for Elan setting on the Mouse settings window in the Control Panel. I tried rolling back the driver to the previous version, which I could do, but still saw the bizarre double Elan tabs in Mouse setting, and saw the same app crash error messages upon rebooting. An un-instillation of the entire driver set through Programs and Features proved fruitless as one tab stayed persistent, as did the program title in Programs and Features. It no longer crashed upon reboot, but the taskbar icon of the mousepad had a large red X on it. The only solution was to do a System Restore to before that update session. Upon reinstalling the other Windows updates, but ignoring and hiding the Elan update, no further problems arose; therefore it was a problem with the driver. I am posting this to inform the community and any forum administrators that this Window 7 driver release on 10/15/15 is apparently buggy and not ready for distribution. My hardware ID for the touchpad is ETD0001 on an ASUS P50IJ.
