There are two ways to check your Internet Explorer version number. The first is through Internet Explorer itself, and is much easier than the second method that uses the Command Prompt.

Find the Version Number With Internet Explorer
The easiest way to find out what version of IE you're using is to check the version number from the About Internet Explorer dialog:
Open Internet Explorer.
